Sustainable Junk Hauling Practices

Waste Management is a serious concern for us here at LITE HAULS. We are a small junk hauling company located within the Palm Springs Area, that is trying to implement sustainable practices to manage what we collect. It's troubling to realize how much junk would end up at the landfill if we didn't care. Here is a small road map of what we do with the trash we collect.

01

Sift and Organize

When we load your stuff onto our trucks, there is a method to how we do this. Depending on what types of debris we are hauling off, we will separate metals, construction debris, green waste, concrete, tires, pallets, recyclable, and donatable items from landfill waste.

02

Donation Drop-Off

We try to drop off reusable items at Habitat for Humanity first, both for our love of construction, and love for their mission. This good deed allows us to free up space in our trucks while saving on dump fees. When donation places aren't on our route, we just set the items aside in our storage units until we can do a larger drop off.

Recycling Centers

We are truly blessed to have recycling centers like SA Recycling, Desert Recycling, US Metals, Apple Recycling and BURTEC. Sometimes, we use SA Recycling for metals, green waste, and concrete. Other times we rely on Desert Recycling for construction debris for their ability to recycle drywall and concrete. BURTEC does a great job of handling mattresses, pallets, electronics, tires, green waste, metals, and more! Whatever the case, we will use whoever cuts down on our drive time!

04

Refuse Transfer Station

The final resting place for the junk we collect is the landfill. Here we take the extra liberty to drop off any tires, electronics, metals, pallets, and sometimes paint at the recycling points within BURTEC before moving onto the unrecyclable materials drop off location. Though its sad that some items will end up in the landfill, its better than the alternative of dumping all junk in our beautiful desert.
